Mental Health Support for New Mothers
A safe delivery is not the only measure of a healthy pregnancy. A mother’s mental health shapes her recovery, her newborn's development, and her ability to seek care in the first place.
Maternal mental health disorders affect as many as 1 in 3 pregnant and postpartum women in Nepal. Yet fewer than 20% of women experiencing symptoms seek help, increasing the risk of preterm birth, maternal mortality, and poor early childhood development.
In 2026, we launched a new initiative to integrate comprehensive maternal mental health services into Nepal's healthcare system, improving women's ability to access the care they need not only for their physical health but also for their mental well-being and that of their newborns.
