Why does Budhakini Birthing Center need to be upgraded?
“Our Birthing Center, Budhakhani, is located in a rural part of Mahabharat Rural Municipality ward number-5. After close coordination with the Palika (municipality), HFOMC, and One Heart Worldwide, we started the birthing center construction. We are very thankful that One Heart Worldwide has supported us with the birthing center construction.
We have expected a lot of changes in the quality of our Maternal and Newborn Health (MNH) services after this construction. Previously we did not have enough room to run the MNH services. We have very small and congested room for delivery service and there was only one delivery room which was used for pre and post-delivery services.
After the Birthing Center upgrades, we will have enough space and separate rooms for antenatal care, delivery, and postnatal and newborn care services. There will also be separate toilets and water facilities, a waiting area, and a kitchen in the maternity ward. We have also constructed a placenta pit and maintain the waste management process. The Palika has also helped us to manage night shift working nursing staff.
We are very excited to work in this new environment. We foresee that all of these new changes will definitely increase the case flow and increase the MNH service utilization.”
