Dear One Heart friends, 

We are delighted to introduce this report as One Heart Worldwide’s co-CEOs. We are both very excited to explore the potential of this dual leadership model. As an organization that has always prided itself on its localized approach to addressing the challenges facing maternal and neonatal health in Nepal, we are excited to take this major step of representing both Nepalis and mothers at the highest levels of our leadership. 

2024 was a year of both celebration and challenges. We proudly marked 20 years of One Heart Worldwide’s impact around the world. Thanks to our partners, supporters, and dedicated teams, we have expanded access to quality maternal and newborn healthcare (MNH) for 1.5 million mothers and newborns via strengthened local healthcare systems able to provide lifesaving care to the most vulnerable communities. We are also honored to have received an unrestricted $2M award from Rippleworks, which will be key to our continued growth. This investment reaffirms the effectiveness and urgency of our mission, allowing us to expand our impact in Nepal’s most underserved and remote areas. 

As we are preparing to commemorate 15 years of dedicated work in Nepal in 2025, we cannot ignore the significant global shifts that have recently affected the development sector. Worldwide, the withdrawal of all USAID funding threatens progress in maternal and newborn health, gender equity, and community healthcare infrastructure. Nepal has long benefited from USAID support in these areas, and this abrupt funding halt underscores the urgent need for alternative, sustainable solutions. 

As we enter this politically pivotal year, we recognize that adaptation is not just an option but a necessity. One Heart Worldwide remains unwavering in its commitment to mothers and newborns, and to safeguard our progress, we are actively seeking new partnerships, diversifying our funding sources, and strengthening our collaboration with the Government of Nepal. 

Despite these uncertainties, 2024 has shown us what is possible when passionate individuals and organizations come together. We are more determined than ever to ensure that every mother and newborn has access to quality healthcare, no matter where they live. As we step into 2025, we do so with resilience, optimism, and a deep sense of responsibility.
