Dr. Anil Shrestha, Nepal Advisory Board Member
Dr. Anil Shrestha did his medical education from Calcutta Medical College and completed his Post Graduation studies in Orthopedics from Tubingen, Germany. He was instrumental in establishing the Nepal Orthopedic Hospital in 1998, a 100 bedded not for profit hospital with the help of over 120 Rotary Clubs across the world and was its Medical Director till 2008 but worked there till 2016.
He also helped establish the Spinal Injury Rehabilitation Centre, the only comprehensive rehab center in Nepal. He is currently the Vice Chairperson of the Board.
He then joined Nick Simons Institute as the Executive Director and just retired in August 2022. He has worked closely with Central, Provisional and local governments to improve the Health Services at government hospitals across the country.
He is also an active Board member of the Nepal Ambulance Service and currently the General Secretary of the Board. He is a Rotarian since 2001 and is the Past President of Rotary Club of Kathmandu West. He is the only Rotary Medical Volunteer from Nepal who went to Sierra Leone in a Rotary Medical Mission in 2005.
He has received the Unsung Heroes of Compassion Award from Dalai Lama in 2005 for his contribution to humanitarian work in Nepal.
